Our good friend from the John Birch Society - Michael Sabga - returned to Manatee Patriots on Tuesday evening. This time, Michael delivered a profound treatise on the scam surrounding the call for a Convention of States (the "Con-Con"). Promulgated by a certain Mark Meckler, this call for a Convention is ostensibly to add 2 amendments to the US Constitution that would install Term Limits for Congressmen and institute a balanced Federal budget. But we learned during Michael's presentation that the US Constitution has been amended (27 times!) in the past without the need of a Convention of States. We we were warned that the last time a Convention of States was called, the governing document at the time (The Articles of Confederation in 1787) was replaced by the current Constitution. It was argued that rather than simply amending the Constitution the aim of the current effort is also to replace the current governing document. And with the lack of sincerity exhibited by elected officials on both sides of the aisle, the fear is that the result would be disastrous. Perhaps the most insidious aspect of this "Con-Con" is that seemingly Conservative leaders, including the likes of Mark Levin, are promoting it!

A Practicing Pediatrician and Health Freedom Advocate
This is also a reminder that we have added a health Freedom advocate to our speaker list. Dr. Renata Moon is a board-certified pediatrician who has cared for children for over 20 years. She has worked in both clinic & hospital settings and has extensive experience with pediatric hospital medicine. Dr. Moon has taught countless medical students and resident physicians throughout her career most recently as a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine. Her family legally immigrated to the United States from a communist country and Dr. Moon is a firm advocate for freedom of speech and our U.S. Constitutional rights. Views reflected during her public comments are her own and she does not represent any past or present employer or other entity.

Another Call for Potluck Dinner!
You should know that our guest speakers over the next few weeks are all from out of state. So it is important that we display the hospitality Manatee County is known for. All attendees are therefore asked to bring an item for our traditional Potluck Dinner next Tuesday. A beverage, gourmet entree, even a box of donuts from Publix will suffice to show our friendship and appreciation to our speakers for traveling a considerable distance to share their thoughts with us.

Ashley Hayek is originally from the small agricultural town of Clovis, California, and serves as AFPI’s Chief Engagement Officer and the Executive Director of America First Works, the advocacy arm of AFPI. She is a political strategist with over 15 years of experience in political, non-profit, and organization consulting, most recently serving on the Trump-Pence 2020 presidential campaign as the National Coalitions Director. At the age of 22, she started her first company in the loft of her townhouse in San Diego and within five years became the premier political and non-profit fundraising firm in Southern California. Ashley attended the University of California, San Diego, where she received a degree in Political Science, and is the proud wife of a United States Marine and mom of five. Despite her relentless commitment to work, she is devoted to her family, juggling it all in her best stilettos.

As the JBS Field Director for Florida, our friend Michael Sabga helps promote the efforts of all Conservative organizations across the State. To that end, Michael shared with us last Tuesday evening an effort initiated in Lake County (the home of Anthony Sabatini!) to create a ballot initiative for a Constitutional Amendment to preserve the sanctity of life. Called the "Human Life Protection Amendment", it seeks to amend the Florida State Constitution to unequivocally declare the God-given right to life of the preborn.
