Dear Guest,

We hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving celebration.

The First In A Series Of Commitment Meetings For Newly Elected Officials

Florida Sunshine Laws prevent us from having more than one member of a particular board attend the same meeting. In order to comply with this important law we have organized a series of meetings where our newly elected officials will outline the goals for their new positions. Our first meeting will feature the following board members:

  • Sunshine Mathews, Palmetto Commissioner, Ward 2 City of Palmetto Ward 2
  • Lisa Gonzalez Moore, Bradenton City Council Ward 4 City of Bradenton
  • Mike Rahn, County Commission District 4

The former candidates will be given 20 minutes each to present on what they want to accomplish during their term.  Questions may be asked during the session or be submitted in advance by using the "Contact" form on our website.  You may access this form by clicking this link

This is a wonderful opportunity to participate in County Government.  Subscribers are encouraged to invite guests so that they too can see "governing by the consent of the governed" in action!

Taxpayer Dollars Being Used to Fund Misinformation in Black Communities

It's enough to give you heartburn!

Judicial Watch recently reported that the National Science Foundation (NSF) recently awarded 3 professors at the University of Wisconsin - Madison nearly $600K to  fight science-related misinformation and misperceptions in black communities.  To read the full article, simply click this link.

Rocket Phonics Call For Volunteers

Who is ready for some Fun and up for a Challenge??

We have seven low rated schools and the kids that attend those schools need help with reading. Because there is a lack of Volunteers,  only two schools right are now being addressed. Rocket Phonics is looking for people to assist and contribute to improving the reading scores in our Manatee County schools.

We have a new school board.  Let’s make this their Legacy!!

Here are the Stats:

  • If 3rd grade students are held back they have a 50% chance of Dropping Out.
  • If they are held back twice they most likely WILL Drop Out.
  • If they are not at reading level by the end of the 3rd grade year, 74% will NEVER reach grade level at anytime!!!

This is the Challenge:

Oneco is a “D” rated school. Right now it is at 51% improving for the school year so far. With time invested and a good reading program we could bring that school grade up to a “B” by April!!! Who is up to the Challenge? This will move the bar for reading scores across the county. We can do this!!

If the community steps up it is a win for all. Help these kids become successful citizens of society and be  our next Commissioners and School Board Representatives. Not to mention it is a lot of Fun for Everyone!!

What does Rocket Phonics do?

FOCUSED ON SAVING LIVES ONE READER AT A TIME

We play games with children that teach them to read. For many of our kids reading was a nightmare they dread, but the games and the rapid success turns it into a joy. By 8 years-old most children will decide their future based on one skill – reading. If they are not reading at grade level they will have a 50% unemployment rate for their adult life. Learn to read at grade level and they replace a cycle of poverty and abuse with cycles of hope, empowerment and success. Rocket Phonics, a series of reading games, can bring them to grade level in weeks instead of years. By current standards it’s a miracle. For low-income-low-literacy elementary kids its a life-saver.

LEGACIES BEGIN HERE

We save lives one reader at a time. Rocket Phonics creates a two-letter group to teach the long vowels and the weird vowels like oy. Once they learn those sounds through games we then color code the letters so the student always knows how to sound out the word. This builds their confidence and allows them to read alone. Reading fun books gives her the vocabulary and the high-frequency words without memorizing. There are 25 million children struggling to read in America. You can’t help them all, but you can help the children in your community. Contact us today and let’s start working together to leave our world a better place.
